Sentence

The water in the tank is very cold.


Go through the sentence written above it is telling the temperature of water in an organized  way. Such structure is grammatically called a sentence.

The sentence can be defined as:


A group of words which gives the complete sense/meaning  is called Sentence. A sentence contains two main parts subject and the predicate. Subject is the focused point for which anything is said, while the predicate is said about the subject which contains verb and object. sentence starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, or a question mark, or an exclamatory mark.
             
    A sentence may be classified as follows:



Declarative sentence:
An assertive sentence/declarative sentence simply expresses an opinion/feeling, or makes a statement, or describes things. It can also be described simply as it declares something. This type of sentence ends with a period (i.e., a full-stop).

Here are the examples of such sentences:

o    She wants to be a fighter pilot.
o    I am exited today.

Imperative sentence:
An imperative sentence is used to make a request or to give a command. Imperative sentences usually end with a period (i.e., a full stop), but under certain circumstances, it can end with a note of exclamation (i.e., exclamation mark).

Here are the examples of such sentences:


o    Please come in.
o    I need you to come in now!

Interrogative sentence:
We use interrogative sentence to ask questions. Interrogative sentences must end with a note of interrogation (i.e., question mark)

Here are the examples of such sentences:

o    When are you going to submit your assignment?
o    Do you know him?

Exclamatory sentence.
An exclamatory sentence expresses overflow of emotions. In other words it shows the sudden felling. These emotions can be of happiness, wonder, sorrow, anger, etc. 

Here are the examples of such sentences:

o    What a day it was!

o    I cannot believe he would do that!
