CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2023-24

In an effort to strengthen educational collaboration between China and Pakistan, the Chinese Scholarship Council of the Chinese government offers Pakistani students and intellectuals the opportunity to study and do research in Chinese universities. HEC is the nominating agency for these scholarships for the academic year 2023-24 on behalf of the government of Pakistan.
China Scholarship Council (CSC), entrusted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, is in charge of enrolment and administration of the Chinese Government Scholarship Program. Eligible candidates may apply for scholarships for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in their respective fields of study.
For scholarship awardees of all levels, designated Chinese universities provide a vast array of academic programmes in Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Economics, Legal Studies, Management, Education, History, Literature, Philosophy, and the Arts, among others.
PROGRAM OFFERED
The Chinese Government Scholarship Program sponsors overseas students, teachers, and scholars to pursue degree courses (Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral), with certain degree programmes requiring one year of preparatory Chinese language study.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must have Pakistani or AJ&K citizenship. Dual nationality is ineligible for application.
Applicants must be in good health.
Applicants holding incomplete degrees as of the application deadline are not allowed to apply.
Applicants for the Undergraduate/degree Bachelor's must have a twelve-year education (intermediate/A-level/FA-FSC) and be under 25 years of age at the time of application.
Masters programme applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (16 years) and be under 35 years old at the time of application.
At the time of application, applicants for PhD/Doctoral programmes must possess a Masters degree MS/MPhil (17/18 years) and be under 40 years of age.

Meet the admissions standards of the colleges to which you have applied in terms of academic standing, language competency, and other pertinent factors.
Applicants may not presently be receiving any other sorts of scholarship.
Every candidate must provide a HAT or USAT test score. The applicant must have scored at least 50 out of 100 on the HAT or USAT. Applicants who took the HAT or USAT on or after January 1, 2022 may upload their test results to the HEC site for consideration. Without a minimum score of 50 on the HAT or USAT, applications will not be considered for further processing. FINANCIAL COVERAGE
Tuition Funds. The host institution will utilise tuition monies extensively. It may cover expenses associated with education, administration, health insurance, and expenditures to support student activities.
Free university dormitory room or a housing stipend for each recipient.
According to China's Government Scholarship Program.
2,500 CNY per month for undergraduate students (Min)
3,000 CNY per month for master's students (Min)
PhD students: 3,500 yuan per month (Min)
Travel Expenditure:
Scholarship winners would be paying their travel expenditures. HEC will not be financially responsible.
HOW TO APPLY
All the information provided in the online application and any attachments must be complete, accurate, and verifiable.
- After registering and completing your profile, please pick "Learning Opportunities Abroad" and submit your application at here. After submitting the application, take a print of it and sign it. The HEC online application portal will stop accepting more scholarship applications after December 15, 2022. (23:59 PM Pakistan Time).
- Before applying, please update your HEC profile with your current email address and cell phone number. You are encouraged to submit your application as soon as possible, since the online application system will be quite active in the days preceding the application deadline. After successfully submitting the application through the HEC portal, keep a signed copy of the printed application form.
- Submit an online application using the CSC web portal at this url/ or here using programme Type: A and Agency Number: 5861. Download the submitted copy of the application form from the Chinese Scholarship Council's homepage, print a signed copy, and keep it with you.
- For further information about the Chinese Government Scholarship , please visit the website of the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad at this web address and complete the Chinese Government Scholarship application on the CSC portal.
- Onnline application must be submitted at CSC and HEC portals. If the form is not submitted on any of the above two portals, the candidate will not be considered.
Note: At this point, hard copies of applications are not necessary. Handwritten or incomplete/saved portal applications will NOT be accepted under any circumstances.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
At this point in the application procedure, prospective applicants are not needed to submit any documents (physical copies) to the HEC. Only those selected for further consideration will be asked to provide the following documents in English or Chinese. In case of any other language, the document must be accompanied by a notarized English or Chinese translation. To avoid any inconveniences in the future, prospective applicants are advised to prepare their application dossiers according to the following criteria:
- Copy of the signed HEC application form in spiral binding. No extra documents are required to accompany the HEC application form.
- Copy of the signed CSC application form together with the following documents:
- Attested copies of all educational documents, one photocopy of CNIC/B-form, domicile, IBCC equivalence certificate (if applicable), and HEC equivalency certificate (if applicable).
- A study plan or research proposal (200 words for Bachelors, 800 words for Masters and PhD), copies of any research publications and accomplishments (PhD only), a language competency certificate or IELTS/TOEFL/HSK score (where applicable), and a copy of a valid ordinary passport till March 1, 2024. (first two pages).
- Foreigners must complete the copy of the Physical Examination Record (attached) in English. (The applicant should retain the original copy.) According to China's government regulation, the physical examinations must include all the things specified in the Physical Examination Record, including basic blood test results for foreigners.
- Non-criminal Record (Certificate of Police Clearance) not older than six months prior to the application date.
- Invalid are the forms with missing information or without the signature of the attending physician, the official hospital stamp, or a photograph of the applicant. Please schedule your physical examination accordingly, as the results are only valid for six months.
- Apply to the target colleges for a pre-admission letter (optional) prior to submitting an online application, if one is available. HEC/CSC cannot guarantee enrolment at your desired university if the applicant does not submit a pre-admission notification. Applicants for Master's and Doctoral programmes who have admission documents will be given priority for Chinese government scholarships.
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the applicant's employer will be required in case of employment.
TORS:
- Ensure that your email, phone number, and mailing address are entered accurately in the application system, since they are crucial to your application's success. Untimely responses to HEC or CSC may result in automatic rejection.
- Submit a scan of each needed document that is clear, legitimate, and valid on both portals. The applicant is responsible for any repercussions resulting from unclear or misidentified uploaded materials.
- In the event that fraudulent information is submitted at any stage, HEC maintains the right to cancel and disqualify the applicant from receiving future scholarships, as well as impose a penalty as determined by HEC.
- Apply online through the HEC portal at www.scholarship.hec.gov.pk before December 15, 2022. Send NO physical copies of application forms or other documentation to HEC at this time.
